UNILATERAL PACHYCHOROID PIGMENT EPITHELIOPATHY FOLLOWING CHIKUNGUNYA VIRUS INFECCTION

Introdução / Purpose

The objective of this case is to show how Chikungunya vírus infecction can cause different forms of macular damages.

Material e Método / Methods

Case description, wide – field retinography and optical coherence tomography (OCT).

Resultados / Results

Report of a 58 year old female pacient with history of Chikungunya vírus infecction and unilateral low visual acuity. Retinografhy and OCT showed mobilization of REP in macular area of only left eye. Also in OCT showed increased subfoveal choroidal thickness confirmed by enhanced depth imaging optical coherence tomography

Discussão e Conclusões / Conclusion

To reveal the importance of the study of the physiopathology of the damage caused by the Chikungunya virus and the in-depth investigation of ocular damage in cases of this infecction.
