LONG-TERM SURVIVAL AFTER LIVER TRANSPLANTS AT A UNIVERSITARY HOSPITAL CENTER
Introdução
The long-term survival of patients undergoing liver transplants has appeared in the literature most recently given the higher survival rate obtained in the first months of follow-up and has been reported as above 50% in European centers. The aim of this work was to present the survival rate after 20 years of transplant performed sequentially in a Brazilian University Center.
Material e Método
liver transplants were performed from 1995 to 2007. The inclusion of cases was sequential mode, with prospective data collection, the day before the transplant, the end of the sixth month and the end of at least 10 years after transplantation. Were excluded patients under the age of 18 years, and those who did not survive up to six months of postoperative period. The variables collected were: age, sex, BMI, cold ischemia time, time of surgery, survival time, amount of RBCs received preoperative and mean arterial pressure in the induction of the surgery, the receiver and donor variables were also noted. It used the Kaplan-Meier method and non-parametric test
Resultados
174 cases were analysed and 76 (43.7%) were the death in the period and 98 (56.32%) survived. It was found that younger patients had a higher survival time (alive = 40.1 years x death = 45.6 years; p = 0.00007), the average survival time was of 223 against 112 months who died (p = 0.0001). The disease that caused as many fatalities were the viral hepatitis in a row of hepatocellular carcinoma, the cumulative causes were cardiovascular (36.4%), relapse diseases (22.1%), new (15.6%) cancer, infectious 14.3%), and others (10.4%)
Discussão e Conclusões
Liver Transplantation offered to these patientes a excellent long-term survival index, nowldays usind DAAs and new drugs better results will be reached.
