BRAIN VENOUS THROMBOSIS - CASE REPORT
To analyze the case of a patient with cerebral venous thrombosis (CVT) and to compare the results with the literature.
We evaluated a patient with CVT, who started an investigation by the Ophthalmology department of Hospital de Base – São José do Rio Preto.
The diagnosis of CVT was confirmed by brainMR and angioCT. The main risk factor identified was the use of oral contraceptives. The use of anticoagulant oral and injectable was performed as a treatment of choice.
CVT should be considered in the diagnosis of secondary headache even in patients with no other signs or symptoms, especially when associated with oral contraceptive use.
