Abstract General Information

Título / Title

MACULAR TELANGIECTASIA TYPE 2 FINDINGS IN OCT-A

Introdução / Purpose

The purpose of this article is to discuss the idiopathic macular telangiectasia (Mac Tel) type 2 findings in multimodal OCT-angiography, considering the retinal vascular alterations and its associations with special conditions such as subretinal neovascularization and retinochoroid anastomosis.

Material e Método / Methods

Five eyes of three patients with Mac Tel type 2 were analyzed with multimodal OCT-angiography (Angiovue, Optovue Inc, Ca, USA). All patients had their diagnoses confirmed by exams as fluorescein angiography and autofluorescence.

Resultados / Results

The findings reveal alterations in each vascular layer of the retina (superficial and deep plexus), defect in the external retina, cavitation and, in later stages, subretinal neovascularization and retinochoroid anastomosis.

Discussão e Conclusões / Conclusion

OCT-angiography allows a better comprehension of vascular pathological mechanisms in Mac Tel type 2. That makes possible individualized treatment in conditions in which there are associations, as subretinal neovascularization and intraretinal infiltration.
