VITRECTOMY FOR DROPPED LENS IN MARFAN SYNDROME
A 47 y/o Marfan syndrome man with left eye phthisis bulbi presented spontaneous dropped nucleus and blurred vision (20/40) related to head movement. AXL was 33.9 mm (IOL power for emmetropia was + 1.00). Malyugin ring was inserted to overcome iris dilator hypoplasia. PPV and facectomy over PFC were performed. Peripheral photocoagulation was accomplished, since 360° lattice degeneration was found. He was left aphakic for post-op refractive correction. At 3-month follow-up, BCVA improved to 20/25.
