Retinal detachment due to acute retinal necrosis

Abstracts

We present a case of a 31 years-old male that presented acute retinal necrosis in the right eye (only eye). During the hospitalization time he was diagnosed with HIV, herpes virus, cytomegalovirus and syphilis, and presented a retinal detachment. Clinical treatment and surgery were performed. The surgery succeeded in reattaching the retina and the final visual acuity was 20/30.
