Aspiration of Perifoveal Subretinal Perfluorcarbon (PFC) Using a 39 Gauge Cannula

A novel technique used for post-op subretinal PFC.It is well known that the PFC can affect the retina layers and patient visual acuity VA. First we designed the tip of 39G subretinal aspiration cannula to make it sharper and also less traumatic.The patients underwent 23G pars plana vitrectomy.The tip went exactly where the PFC was, and a small hole was made followed the aspiration of it.It has to be done carefully by an expert surgeon.Both patients demonstrated a VA improvement after 1 month.
