Ocular perforation with big intraocular foreign body caused by steam boiler glass explosion

A 33 year-old male presented at our emergency department after ocular trauma caused by steam boiler explosion.
Visual acuity at presentation was hand-motion and biomicroscopy showed extensive seidel with iris herniation through the wound, associated with traumatic cataract. Fundoscopy was impossible, but ultrassound revealed vitreous hemorrhage and attached retina. Corneal suture, lensectomy and vitrectomy with foreign body removal were performed, and final visual acuity was 20/60.
