Presumed toxocariasis tractional retinal detachment

Abstracts

A 16 years old male patient presented at our emergency department with sudden loss of visual acuity on his right eye. His visual acuity was hand motion, and fundoscopy revealed extensive retinal detachment on the macula and temporal periphery. His left eye also showed similar alterations, with a long-lasting hand motion visual acuity. Vitrectomy with posterior hyaloid detachment was performed, and visual acuity improved to 20/200.
His visual acuity prior to the detachment was 20/300.
