PETER SZURMAN

After studying human medicine in Paris and Essen and completing his specialist training in Cologne and Tubingen, he received his PhD in new treatment options for macular degeneration. In 2009, he was appointed vice director of the University Eye Clinic Tubingen and research professor for "Experimental Ophthalmic Surgery".
Since 2010, he has been director of the Sulzbach Eye Clinic, which has been recognized as the largest center for retinal surgery in Germany since 2015. His research focuses on the development of new retinal surgical techniques, especially stem cell therapy and transplantation surgery in AMD. In 2017, he founded the Klaus Heimann Eye Research Institute (KHERI) dedicated to translational research in biotechnology and stem cell therapy for ophthalmic diseases. He has received several awards in this field.
