SPONTANEOUS RETINAL BLEEDING IN A 22 YEARS OLD HEALTHY PATIENT: CASE REPORT

Summary

Purpose: TO DESCRIBE A SPONTANEOUS MACULAR HEMORRHAGE IN A HEALTHY , YOUNG FEMALE PATIENT. Methods: retrospective, case report. Female patient, 22 years-old, without known diseases or continuous use of medications, presented spontaneous macular hemorrhage ten days after using the “next day pill” to avoid pregnancy. This patient was breastfeeding her second son and denied any kind of physical effort or trauma. Discussion: Likely diagnosis, such as myeloproliferative diseases, severe anemia, valsalva retinopathy, vascular abnormalities, and the influence of high dose of oral contraceptives will be discussed.
