SUSAC SYNDROME

Summary

Susac syndrome is a rare condition that characteristically results in occlusion of small arteries, predominantly in the brain, inner ear, and retina, giving rise to the pathognomonic triad of encephalopathy, low to mid frequency sensory hearing loss and visual disturbances from branch retinal artery occlusion. The purpose is to report the clinical course of a patient with ocular manifestations of Susac Syndrome. This case brings complete ocular documentation of a rare disease that affects young patients and represents a challenging in diagnosis and treatment.
