Title

LEAVE OR NOT TO LEAVE

Summary

Liquid perfluorocarbons (PFCs) are currently used in vitreoretinal surgeries, showing good results in the intraoperative management of vitreoretinal proliferation. However, subretinal PFC is a complication that can occur in vitrectomies due to retinal detachment and in some cases can be located in the fovea. Although there is a consensus that PFC is toxic to the retina, the decision is questioned whether it is worth removing or keeping track of. We will discuss a case in which, after a pars plana vitrectomy due to retinal detachment, a small subretinal PFC bubble remains near the fovea. The question is whether or not it is worth removing the PFC
